In this new sculptural series, “Foreign Bodies” I create hybrid structures with a multitude of life forms that spread, encrust, and overtake their surroundings, drawing on the visual language of growth to examine systems of occupation, displacement, and control. The work reflects on the layered histories embedded in place—how spaces are claimed, altered, and redefined over time—echoing the ongoing impacts of colonial expansion and contemporary processes of gentrification.
Using materials associated with domestic labor alongside organic and discarded elements, these installations blur boundaries between care and consumption, cultivation and erasure. The environments operate as speculative landscapes where beauty and unease coexist, inviting viewers to consider who belongs within a space, what is displaced, and what histories remain visible or obscured.
